What is the best digital photography camera on the market today?

I really like the cannon rebel but before I make the plunge I was seeing if anyone else had suggestions.

Best for what exactly??

The Nikon d3s and d3x are widely acknowledged as being a couple of the top cameras on the market in the Dslr market
the Hasselblad H4d range are top in the medium format market

The Canon rebels (there are a number of different models) are ok but certainly nowhere near the "best" on the market. They are aimed at the beginning and middle end of the market (both financial and knowledge wise).

there is NO "best"… there are some good ones…

    Sony, Nikon, Canon, Pentax…

look at the prices and the accessories that are available and your budget and see what you can get for your money…

Anything that can be classified as best will be lightyears out of your pricerange. The cheapest, Nikon’s D3x is already close to 10k.

Now, looking at entry level cameras. Pentax’ latest is nice as are nikon’s d3100 and d5100 but yes, the latest rebels are also nice.

That’s a fairly subjective question. However, I think that many would agree that the Hasselblad H4D, Leica S2, Nikon D3x and Canon EOS-1ds Mark III are top of the line.

Note: it is Canon not cannon.
